Noteworthy Friday Option Activity: GOOG, FMC, CBOE

Looking at options trading activity among components of the S&P 500 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Alphabet Inc (GOOG), where a total volume of 14,463 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 1.4 million underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 91.7% of GOOG's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 1.6 million shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $1435 strike put option expiring June 19, 2020, with 966 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 96,600 underlying shares of GOOG. FMC Corp. (FMC) options are showing a volume of 5,453 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 545,300 underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 77.7% of FMC's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 702,025 shares. Especially high volume was seen for the $105 strike call option expiring July 17, 2020, with 2,112 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 211,200 underlying shares of FMC. And Cboe Global Markets Inc (CBOE) options are showing a volume of 5,697 contracts thus far today. That number of contracts represents approximately 569,700 underlying shares, working out to a sizeable 71.6% of CBOE's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 795,990 shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $110 strike put option expiring June 19, 2020, with 2,500 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 250,000 underlying shares of CBOE.
